About the Great Appalachian Valley Race: Half Marathon, 10K and 5K
The course runs on a flat trail through open countryside outside Shippensburg. The terrain is paved or packed enough to run fast on, and the surroundings are rural, the kind of wide-open farmland scenery that makes the miles feel less like work. Walkers are welcome alongside runners, and there is food and drink waiting at the finish.
Packet pickup happens near the start line on race morning, so there is no need to travel out the day before. Parking is in the park itself and the surrounding area, informal rather than structured, so arriving a little early gives you room to settle in.
