About the Grandview Education Foundation Heroes for Education 5K

The course runs on the trails through the park surrounding the amphitheater, starting and finishing at that same spot. It is the kind of terrain you find at a local park, which means some natural surface underfoot rather than straight pavement the whole way.

Packet pickup runs the afternoon before the race at the school district's board of education office. There is also a morning-of option if the evening before does not work.

Common Questions About the Grandview Education Foundation Heroes for Education 5K

Will I finish last at the Grandview Education Foundation Heroes for Education 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 36:59, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:03:01, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Grandview Education Foundation Heroes for Education 5K a good first 5K?

It is a small race (84 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Grandview Education Foundation Heroes for Education 5K?

The 5K winner ran 19:14 while the median finisher took 36:59. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
