About the Gobbler 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run

The course runs through Starkey Park, a natural setting that works well for families pushing strollers or bringing dogs on leashes. The route is calm and open, and the whole event raises money for a local school, so there is a sense of purpose behind the morning beyond just the running.

Packet pickup is the evening before at the Educational Center inside the park. On race morning, parking is in the fields near the park entrance, and from there it is a short walk in to the start area at the Educational Center, so plan a few extra minutes for that.

Common Questions About the Gobbler 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run

Will I finish last at the Gobbler 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 38:09, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:21:35, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Gobbler 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run a good first 5K?

With 912 finishers there are runners at every pace, so you are never out on your own. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Gobbler 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run?

The 5K winner ran 16:56 while the median finisher took 38:09. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
