About the Goat Cliff Road Race 2026
The course starts on Acorn Creek Road near Lake Burton and climbs hard up Sonya Road, a private community road that is not normally open to the public. The elevation gain comes at you quickly and does not let up, so you are working for most of the distance. At the top, the lake and the surrounding mountains open up in both directions.
Parking is limited by the nature of the private road, and the organizers send out instructions before race day. The start area sits right along the lake, so there is water on one side and mountain terrain on the other from the moment you arrive.
