About the Glory Days 5K Community Run at The Portage Invitational

The course here is a cross-country trail used by high school and middle school athletes throughout the season, including some of the fastest scholastic runners in the region. Running it puts you on the same ground they compete on, which gives the morning a different feel than a road race. The terrain is natural and the footing reflects that.

Common Questions About the Glory Days 5K Community Run at The Portage Invitational

Will I finish last at the Glory Days 5K Community Run at The Portage Invitational?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 23:04, and the last recorded finisher came in around 41:23, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Glory Days 5K Community Run at The Portage Invitational a good first 5K?

It is a small race (142 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Glory Days 5K Community Run at The Portage Invitational?

The 5K winner ran 16:11 while the median finisher took 23:04. That spread points to a relatively quick field, so expect a competitive front end.
