About the Global Running Day

The course runs through a vineyard, so the surroundings are open and agricultural rather than urban. The route is self-paced, which shapes the whole morning: people move at whatever speed suits them, and the setting does most of the work. After finishing, there is wine at the winery itself, which makes the post-race stretch genuinely worth staying for.

Packet pickup happens on race day at the winery near the start line, so there is no separate trip to make beforehand.

Finish-Time Stats

Going by the 2026 results, this is a small, friendly field, and the spread of finish times is wide, so this is a mostly recreational race rather than one for club runners.

Common Questions About the Global Running Day

Will I finish last at the Global Running Day?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 40:45, and the last recorded finisher came in around 57:12, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Global Running Day a good first 3.1 Miles?

It is a small race (48 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Global Running Day?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 20:25 while the median finisher took 40:45. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
