About the Girlfriends Run

This is a women's race in Vancouver built around supporting a breast cancer cause. The event grew from a personal story, and that origin still shows up on race day, most visibly in the woman the race honors, who runs it every year with her family and wears a bib you will recognize. The field is a mix of runners and walkers, and pace genuinely does not matter here.

Finish-Time Stats

Going by the 2025 results, this is a decent-sized field, and the spread of finish times is wide, so this is a mostly recreational race rather than one for club runners.

Common Questions About the Girlfriends Run

Will I finish last at the Girlfriends Run?

Almost certainly not. Half the 4 Miles field finished slower than 1:12:45, and the last recorded finisher came in around 2:04:29, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Girlfriends Run a good first 4 Miles?

With 913 finishers there are runners at every pace, so you are never out on your own. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 4 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Girlfriends Run?

The 4 Miles winner ran 24:16 while the median finisher took 1:12:45. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.

Where can I train for the Girlfriends Run?

Join a local run club. Vancouver Run, Grub and Chug Club and others in Vancouver welcome runners of all paces, and a weekly group run is the most reliable way to hold a training block together.
