About the Get Down to the Loose Caboose

The longer distance starts downtown near the Greene County Courthouse, while the shorter races begin at Rotary Park and follow the creek trail before finishing back at the courthouse. The route is mostly trail, which gives it a different feel from a road race through the same neighborhoods. A shuttle runs back to the start so you are not stuck figuring out how to get to your car.

Common Questions About the Get Down to the Loose Caboose

Will I finish last at the Get Down to the Loose Caboose?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 40:05, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:04:35, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Get Down to the Loose Caboose a good first 5K?

It is a small race (188 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Get Down to the Loose Caboose?

The 5K winner ran 21:55 while the median finisher took 40:05. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
