About the Full Moon 5k
The course runs through woods at night, mixing paved road, paved bike trail, and a gravel lane lined with tiki torches. The torches do the work where the moonlight falls short, so you can see where you are going even deep in the trees. It raises money for a birds of prey program at Patoka Lake that cares for non-releasable wildlife.
The start is at the beach, and the race goes off after dark, once the sun is down. Packet pickup happens the afternoon before at the nature center, with a second window opening at the beach before the start. Vehicle entrance fees are waived for race participants.

How we calculate these stats: RunSesh calculates these figures from the most recent published results of past editions, sourced from RunSignup. We show aggregates only: field size, winning and median times, and the cutoff. We never publish individual finisher tables. Last updated Jul 27, 2026.
