About the Friends of Yellow River State Forest Trail Run
The course runs on existing trails through Yellow River State Forest, which means the terrain shapes the distance rather than the other way around. Expect natural surface underfoot, likely rooted and uneven in places, with the forest itself as the backdrop throughout. Dogs on leash are welcome on course, which tells you something about the pace and atmosphere out there.
Check-in opens at the forest office about an hour before each start. The race is organized by a nonprofit whose proceeds go back into the forest, so the entry fee is doing something beyond covering timing chips.
