About the Friends of the Poor 5K Walk/Run & Kiddy-K
The course runs through Kings Landing Park, mixing open parkland with wooded trails. It is mostly flat with just enough tree cover to make the surroundings feel removed from the road. A short kids' race runs alongside the main event for younger children. Separate awards go to the top male and female finishers overall, and to top finishers within each age division.
Beyond the race itself, the morning has a fair bit going on: kids' games, a silent auction, a raffle, and appearances from the local fire department. It reads like a neighborhood gathering that happens to have a timed race at the center of it.
