About the Freeze Your Gizzard 5K and 1 Mile
The course runs through Ida Lee Park on a cross-country style trail with several steep hills. It is not a flat park loop. The terrain is uneven enough that strollers and wagons are not allowed, so expect real footing changes throughout. The race starts and finishes near a gazebo on the festival field.
Packet pickup runs the two days before the race at the park's recreation center, with race-morning pickup available at the registration tents in the festival field. Parking is on the front grass field, accessed from North King Street rather than Ida Lee Drive. After the race, Loudoun Hunger Relief hosts the post-race gathering, with refreshments and door prizes.

The Freeze Your Gizzard 5K and 1 Mile has been held every year since at least 2025. That is as far back as RunSignup's records for this race go, so it may well be older.
How we calculate these stats: RunSesh calculates these figures from the most recent published results of past editions, sourced from RunSignup. We show aggregates only: field size, winning and median times, and the cutoff. We never publish individual finisher tables. Last updated Jul 27, 2026.
