About the Fred Torres Memorial 5K

The course runs on the championship cross country course at Garrett Mountain, so expect roots, turns, and uneven ground rather than pavement. It is a genuine trail race, the kind of terrain that slows you down in ways a road 5K does not.

The post-race party moves to a pub on Passaic Avenue in Fairfield, which gives the whole morning a natural second act. There is also an alumni trophy for top Clifton High School cross country and track finishers, with past winners' names engraved on a perpetual award displayed at the race.
