About the Franciscan Rhythms Trail 5K Run & Walk
The course runs through a mix of wooded areas and a restored native prairie on a Franciscan sisters' campus. Most of it is unpaved, so expect dirt and natural terrain underfoot. Live music stations playing Irish, rock, and folk are spread along the trail, and the land itself is active: birds, insects, woodland animals, and reportedly the occasional beaver.
Same-day registration opens well before the start, so arriving early gives you time to get sorted. After finishing, the sisters put out homemade cinnamon rolls alongside water and snacks. There is also a short children's run earlier in the morning, so the start area tends to have families around before the main event goes off.
