About the Flying Falcon Downhill Mile
The course runs point-to-point down Academy Drive on the Air Force Academy campus, losing significant elevation from start to finish. It is fully paved and tilts steadily downhill the whole way, so times here tend to skew fast. The surroundings are open and scenic, and live falcons are part of the atmosphere at the event.
Shuttles carry runners from the finish area up to the start line before the race. Bib pickup is near the finish and runs through late morning. If you do not have Department of Defense base access, watch for a pre-race email with instructions, and bring a REAL ID-compliant form of identification. Refreshments and an awards ceremony follow near the finish.
