About the 2026 Flat Rock Grateful Gallop 5k/1-Mile
The course runs entirely on pavement, mixing local roads with a stretch of the Downriver Linked Greenways path. It is a Thanksgiving morning race, so the air tends to be cold and the neighborhood quiet. The route begins and ends at the community center, which keeps things grounded in the neighborhood rather than a park or a fairground.
Packet pickup runs in the hour or so before the first wave goes off. The event collects donations for a local food pantry and an animal shelter, and bringing canned food or pet food gets you into a raffle. Food and drinks are out at the finish when you come through.
