About the Flat & Fast Rural Hall 5K

The course runs out and back along Broad Street, with a protected lane keeping runners separated from traffic. It is genuinely flat, the kind of route where you can push from the start without worrying about what is coming. The race starts and finishes at the elementary school it benefits, and the crowd there reflects that.

Packet pickup runs the two days before the race at a local farm credit office nearby, with race-morning pickup available at the school as well. Parking is on school property and the surrounding streets. At the finish, Krispy Kreme doughnuts, chocolate milk, fruit, and cookies are set out, and a senior cheer squad greets runners as they come in.

Finish-Time Stats

Common Questions About the Flat & Fast Rural Hall 5K

Will I finish last at the Flat & Fast Rural Hall 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 38:21, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:19:10, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Flat & Fast Rural Hall 5K a good first 5K?

A field of 280 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Flat & Fast Rural Hall 5K?

The 5K winner ran 17:37 while the median finisher took 38:21. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
