About the First Responders Gobble Gallop 5K

The course starts at a fire station and loops out through a neighborhood street and back, finishing where it began. It benefits the Deltona Firefighters Foundation, and the Thanksgiving-season timing means costumes are part of the scene. Post-race snacks and drinks are set up at the finish line. Age group awards are given out for the timed run.

Packet pickup runs the evening before at the fire station where the race starts. Race-morning pickup is available at The Center at Deltona, which also serves as the parking lot for the day. Restrooms inside the facility open before the start, so you have somewhere to be before the gun goes off.

Finish-Time Stats

Going by the 2025 results, this is a small, friendly field, and the spread of finish times is wide, so this is a mostly recreational race rather than one for club runners.

Common Questions About the First Responders Gobble Gallop 5K

Will I finish last at the First Responders Gobble Gallop 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 42:11, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:07:35, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the First Responders Gobble Gallop 5K a good first 3.1 Miles?

A field of 239 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the First Responders Gobble Gallop 5K?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 18:36 while the median finisher took 42:11. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
