About the First Responders 5K
This is a tribute run honoring the first responders who risk their lives in service, from emergency medical workers to law enforcement to fire services. It is held on campus, organized by a student military honor society and its sister organization, and the mission is straightforward: draw attention to the sacrifice first responders make.
There is a charity raffle and a donation drive at the event, with the beneficiary announced closer to race day. The campus setting keeps things self-contained, and the student-run atmosphere means the energy comes from people who organized this because they care about the cause, not because it is a production.
