About the Firefighter Bob Kochka 5K Run/Walk
The course runs on roads through Bloomingdale, mixing flat stretches with some real climbing, so expect to work in spots. It is named for a local firefighter, and the race benefits pancreatic cancer research, which gives the morning a purposeful feeling without turning it into a ceremony.
Packet pickup happens the evening before at the Bloomingdale Firemen's Hall, which fits the spirit of the race well. Race-morning registration is available too, at the start area on Glenwild Avenue.

Finish-Time Stats
Going by the 2025 results, this is a small, friendly field, and the spread of finish times is wide, so this is a mostly recreational race rather than one for club runners.

The Firefighter Bob Kochka 5K Run/Walk has been held every year since at least 2018. That is as far back as RunSignup's records for this race go, so it may well be older.
How we calculate these stats: RunSesh calculates these figures from the most recent published results of past editions, sourced from RunSignup. We show aggregates only: field size, winning and median times, and the cutoff. We never publish individual finisher tables. Last updated Jul 27, 2026.
