The course runs on paved roads and pathways through the park, closed to traffic on race morning. It is a tribute race, started by former students and runners to honor a physical education teacher and coach who spent his career at a local school for the deaf and helped build cross-country programs in the area. The park setting keeps things shaded and pleasant.
