About the Feel the Burn 5K & 10K

This is an evening race that starts and finishes at the local fire station, which means the course is partly in the dark. The organizers provide light towers for the shadier stretches and hand out glow sticks and reflective gear before the start. Dogs on leash are welcome, though the course runs on open roads with vehicle traffic.

Packet pickup opens in the late afternoon on race day at the fire station, which is also the start and finish. Parking is behind the firehouse, with overflow across the street behind a church.

Common Questions About the Feel the Burn 5K & 10K

Will I finish last at the Feel the Burn 5K & 10K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 33:58, and the last recorded finisher came in around 57:05, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Feel the Burn 5K & 10K a good first 5K?

It is a small race (75 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Feel the Burn 5K & 10K?

The 5K winner ran 16:42 while the median finisher took 33:58. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
