About the Fairfax Egg Run

The course rolls through the countryside outside Fairfax, with gentle hills and views of the Lamoille River along the way. Several distance options make it work for a range of runners, and a kids' fun run runs alongside the main event. Proceeds support the local community center, which hosts everything from yoga to scouting groups.

After the race, there is a made-to-order omelet station in the food tent, with locally sourced ingredients. The Egg Run is also the final leg of a regional triple crown series connecting three Franklin County races, so finishers who completed the earlier events collect their series recognition here.

Common Questions About the Fairfax Egg Run

Will I finish last at the Fairfax Egg Run?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 29:13, and the last recorded finisher came in around 52:37, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Fairfax Egg Run a good first 5K?

It is a small race (133 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Fairfax Egg Run?

The 5K winner ran 16:53 while the median finisher took 29:13. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
