About the Extra Mile Backyard Ultra
This is a backyard-style ultra held at a church, which also serves as base camp between loops. The format is simple: a whistle blows every hour, and you run a neighborhood loop before the next one starts. Finish early and you rest; arrive late and you are out. The church grounds give it a grounded, unhurried atmosphere between efforts.
During the downtime, there is music, worship, and prayer at the church. A pledge-per-mile fundraiser runs alongside the event, so neighbors and family can sponsor your miles. Shorter standalone distances are also available for those not ready to commit to the full overnight format.
