About the Expo Park XC Runs

The course runs almost entirely on grass through Expo Park, with gentle rolls underfoot and a few spots where the ground gets uneven. There is a small creek crossing and hay bale jumps along the way, which gives it the feel of a proper cross country course rather than a road race dressed up in trail clothes.

Common Questions About the Expo Park XC Runs

Will I finish last at the Expo Park XC Runs?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3K field finished slower than 16:26, and the last recorded finisher came in around 21:41, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Expo Park XC Runs a good first 3K?

It is a small race (22 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Expo Park XC Runs?

The 3K winner ran 13:42 while the median finisher took 16:26. That spread points to a relatively quick field, so expect a competitive front end.
