About the Explore The Falls Race

The course mixes road and trail, looping around Lake Holcomb and through a residential neighborhood. The road sections bookend a stretch of gravel, grass, and natural trail in the middle. Shorter options stay entirely on paved road. The race honors Veterans, and the morning starts early with a kids' run before the main distances go off.

Parking is split between two elementary schools nearby, and the organizers note that spots go fast so arriving early helps. A couple of streets close for the course, so check which roads to avoid when you navigate in. Packet pickup locations are set closer to race week.

Common Questions About the Explore The Falls Race

Will I finish last at the Explore The Falls Race?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 30:45, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:05:06, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Explore The Falls Race a good first 5K?

A field of 318 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Explore The Falls Race?

The 5K winner ran 16:56 while the median finisher took 30:45. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
