About the Emmaus 4 Mile Classic

The course winds through residential neighborhoods on road, passing the kinds of tree-lined streets that feel genuinely quiet on a race morning. It starts and finishes at the high school, so parking and the start area are in the same place. The route is not hilly enough to be a challenge race, but it is not flat enough to ignore either.

The start area at the high school means indoor bathrooms before the gun, which is worth knowing on a cold spring morning. Post-race refreshments are on site. Timing is handled by a professional company, so results come back quickly.

Common Questions About the Emmaus 4 Mile Classic

Will I finish last at the Emmaus 4 Mile Classic?

Almost certainly not. Half the 4 Miles field finished slower than 37:10, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:10:21, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Emmaus 4 Mile Classic a good first 4 Miles?

It is a small race (194 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 4 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Emmaus 4 Mile Classic?

The 4 Miles winner ran 20:23 while the median finisher took 37:10. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
