The race takes place at an elementary school where the woman it honors once taught as a student herself, which gives the grounds a particular weight. The event marks National Domestic Violence Awareness Month and raises awareness around teen dating violence and digital abuse. Teams are welcome, and so are walkers.
A virtual component runs through the weeks leading up to race day for anyone who wants to participate remotely before the in-person event.
