About the Elmer Library Harvest Day 5k Run

The race starts and finishes at the town library on South Main Street, right in the middle of town. The course goes out through Elmer's streets, through quiet small-town blocks. Age group awards go several deep, and there are cash prizes for the overall gender winners. Teams are welcome, with the two fastest members counting toward the score.

Packet pickup and same-day registration both happen at the library before the start. Parking runs along South Main Street, with overflow at the firehouse and the little league ballpark. Drinks and snacks are at the finish. Afterward, the Elmer Harvest Day Festival is already underway, so most people stick around.

Common Questions About the Elmer Library Harvest Day 5k Run

Will I finish last at the Elmer Library Harvest Day 5k Run?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 28:19, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:11:26, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Elmer Library Harvest Day 5k Run a good first 3.1 Miles?

It is a small race (122 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Elmer Library Harvest Day 5k Run?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 15:42 while the median finisher took 28:19. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
