About the Elderton Plumcreek Recreation Park 39th annual 5k
The course runs through the streets of Elderton on a USATF-certified road course, slightly rolling but generally quick underfoot. The route passes through the center of a small town, so the surroundings are close and familiar rather than wide open. Aid stations are posted along the way, and the start is near the local bank at the main intersection.
Food trucks are set up for several hours around race time, and the awards ceremony moves over to the recreation park after everyone finishes. Trophy awards go deep into age groups, including separate recognition for walkers and for the oldest and youngest finishers.
