About the EE Exceptional Superhero 5K

The race runs through Cape Coral on Halloween morning, so the field tends to look more like a costume parade than a typical timed event. Candy stations are set up along the route, and there are separate contests for pet costumes and decorated strollers. Dogs on leashes and strollers are welcome, though both start toward the back. Chip timing is used, so competitive runners get real results.

Packet pickup happens at the Grace Church lobby in the days before the race, with a race-morning option as well. Cash is not accepted at registration, so bring a card. Awards for overall and age group finishers are presented right after the race, and games and activities keep things going for families who stick around.

Common Questions About the EE Exceptional Superhero 5K

Will I finish last at the EE Exceptional Superhero 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 43:01, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:09:27, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the EE Exceptional Superhero 5K a good first 3.1 Miles?

It is a small race (129 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the EE Exceptional Superhero 5K?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 17:12 while the median finisher took 43:01. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
