About the EDRRC - Beer Mile

The beer mile format is simple: drink a beer, run a lap, repeat until the mile is done. Competitors bring their own beer, and the rules are strict about can size, alcohol content, and no tampering. Several categories run separately, from traditional beer to cider to soda, so designated drivers and non-drinkers have a place in the field too.

Packet pickup opens at noon on race day, ahead of a sharp start in the early afternoon. The waiver must be downloaded and signed before you arrive, as no extras are provided on site. Everything you bring in leaves with you at the end, including empties. All participants must arrive and depart with a designated driver.

Common Questions About the EDRRC - Beer Mile

Will I finish last at the EDRRC - Beer Mile?

Almost certainly not. Half the race field finished slower than 21:37, and the last recorded finisher came in around 24:31, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the EDRRC - Beer Mile a good first race?

It is a small race (9 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first race, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the EDRRC - Beer Mile?

The race winner ran 15:46 while the median finisher took 21:37. That spread points to a relatively quick field, so expect a competitive front end.
