About the East Texas Yamboree Tater Trot
The Tater Trot is tied to Gilmer's Yamboree festival, so the start area has a different energy than most local road races. The course runs through neighborhood streets and has real rolling hills, not just a token rise or two. It is a genuine workout if you push it, and pleasant if you do not.
Coffee is waiting at the finish, which is back at the high school where the morning begins. Costumes show up in the crowd, encouraged by the organizers, and the whole thing feeds into a bigger festival day in town.
