About the 16th Annual Downtown Springdale Turkey Trot

The race starts at Turnbow Park and uses the Razorback Greenway for the course. The greenway is a paved trail, so the footing is smooth throughout. It is a Thanksgiving morning race, so expect cool air and a crowd that is more holiday outing than race-day grind. The route suits runners and walkers alike.

The race is organized by the RedDog Club to benefit the Springdale High School football program, so there is a school-community feel to the morning. Turnbow Park is right on Emma Avenue, which keeps logistics simple. Post-race, the park gives everyone a place to gather before heading off to Thanksgiving dinner.

Common Questions About the 16th Annual Downtown Springdale Turkey Trot

Will I finish last at the 16th Annual Downtown Springdale Turkey Trot?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 33:21, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:14:29, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the 16th Annual Downtown Springdale Turkey Trot a good first 5K?

A field of 435 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the 16th Annual Downtown Springdale Turkey Trot?

The 5K winner ran 15:43 while the median finisher took 33:21. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
