About the Double Dipsea
The Double Dipsea runs from Stinson Beach over to Mill Valley and back, entirely on the Dipsea Trail. The course is long and genuinely demanding, with serious climbing in both directions. The handicap format gives most runners a staggered head start based on age and gender, so the field spreads across the trail and almost anyone can find themselves near the front at the finish.
The staggered start means the order of finishers rarely reflects who ran the fastest. Teenagers and runners well into their sixties have both landed in the top ten. The cutoffs are generous enough that a strong hiker with mountain legs can finish, but the trail will earn your respect either way.

How we calculate these stats: RunSesh calculates these figures from the most recent published results of past editions, sourced from RunSignup. We show aggregates only: field size, winning and median times, and the cutoff. We never publish individual finisher tables. Last updated Jul 27, 2026.
