About the Don't Run with Scissors Color Fun Run 5K
This is a color run put on by a local EMS service, so the energy at the start line is a little different from most 5Ks. Runners and walkers come through color stations along the route, and many people show up in superhero costumes. The funds go toward ambulance operations and a mental health program for first responders, which gives the morning a genuine sense of purpose.
After the run, the host station opens its doors for tours of the ambulances and live demonstrations of emergency equipment, along with wellness checks. It is a longer morning than most races if you stick around for it, and the open house runs well into midday.
