The course runs through the historic streets of downtown Perry, so there is real character to look at as you go. The race is held during the Dogwood Festival, which means the town is already alive when you arrive, and post-race there are festivities right outside the finish area.
This is a first-year event, which gives the morning a certain energy. After you finish, the festival grounds are there to wander, so there is no rush to leave.
