About the Ditmars Wine Run 5k

The course runs through Ditmars Orchard and Vineyard, starting and finishing at the winery. It loops twice over cross-country terrain, so expect uneven ground underfoot rather than pavement. The surroundings are the draw: you are running through a working orchard and vineyard, and the landscape reflects that.

Packet pickup is race morning only, beginning before the start, so no separate trip the day before is needed. After finishing, the farm itself has plenty to explore, and there is wine at the finish area.

Common Questions About the Ditmars Wine Run 5k

Will I finish last at the Ditmars Wine Run 5k?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 41:03, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:14:01, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Ditmars Wine Run 5k a good first 5K?

A field of 339 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Ditmars Wine Run 5k?

The 5K winner ran 18:56 while the median finisher took 41:03. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
