About the District 112 FUNd Run and Family Walk

The race starts at Ravinia Festival grounds, and the family walk follows just behind the runners a few minutes later. Proceeds go toward need-based scholarships for students in the district's schools, so the field tends to draw a lot of school families alongside the faster runners. It runs rain or shine, and the run is chip-timed off the bib.

Packet pickup is required for everyone, and it happens the two evenings before the race at Indian Trail School, in the warehouse building on the east side of the parking lot. Race-morning registration is available, though chip timing is not assured for those who register that day.

Common Questions About the District 112 FUNd Run and Family Walk

Will I finish last at the District 112 FUNd Run and Family Walk?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 31:16, and the last recorded finisher came in around 58:09, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the District 112 FUNd Run and Family Walk a good first 3.1 Miles?

A field of 334 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the District 112 FUNd Run and Family Walk?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 17:45 while the median finisher took 31:16. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
