About the Devil Dog 5K & 10K Run/Walk
The course runs through Burt Aaronson South County Regional Park, a large green space off Glades Road. The morning has a distinct military flavor: a bagpiper, a color guard, and a mascot lead runners to the start line before the national anthem plays. The race benefits the Wounded Veterans Relief Fund, so the crowd tends to take the opening ceremony seriously.
Parking and registration both happen before the start, with everything organized around a covered pavilion inside the park. A non-timed walk and a kids' race follow the main event, so families with younger runners tend to stick around after the finish. Top overall finishers in each gender receive plaques, and there is a shoe prize from a local running store for the outright winners.
