The course winds through old-growth forest inside a large urban park on the Tacoma waterfront, with tall cedars and firs overhead and open views of Puget Sound along the way. It is mostly single-track, mostly runnable, but there are real hills to train for. Each loop brings you back through the finish area at a beach, so you get a crowd and a breather before heading out again.
