About the Death by 5k Tyler
The course runs on dirt trails in Tyler State Park, starting and finishing at the Blackjack camping area. Expect rocks, roots, and possible mud. The format is a repeating loop challenge spread across a full day and night, so you will be running in the dark at points and will want a headlamp. The distance per loop runs a little long, which you will notice by the later rounds.
Race headquarters is the Blackjack camping area, where participants can sleep in their cars or pitch a tent between loops. Parking is available in the lots scattered through that part of the park. Hot food comes out several times across the event, and snacks are available throughout. Note that each participant pays a separate day-use fee to the park on arrival.
