The course runs point-to-point along the ocean road that hugs the coastline, staying close to the water the whole way. It is flat pavement with open skies, and on a clear morning the horizon does not quit. The route ends at a lighthouse at the southern tip of the barrier island, which makes for a concrete landmark to run toward in the final stretch.
