About the Day of the Dead Half Marathon - Austin
The course runs as a double out-and-back through parkland in San Marcos, so you cover the same ground more than once and get a real sense of the landscape each time. Expect lush tree cover, open stretches near water, and natural Texas terrain underfoot. A costume contest before the start draws some genuinely creative Día de los Muertos looks.
After the finish, there is a rally tent with live music, a DJ calling out every finisher by name, and Mexican food and drinks. Awards are handed out in person at the tent, so there is a reason to stick around past the finish line.
