About the Day of The Dead 5K & 10k
The course starts in front of a local running store and drops downhill through an older village neighborhood, crosses a bridge, then follows the American River Trail on an out-and-back stretch before climbing back up to the finish. It is all paved, and strollers are welcome. Dogs on leash can run the shorter distance.
Packet pickup runs the day before at the same running store where the race starts, with race-morning pickup available as well. Before the start, runners can add photos, flowers, or mementos to a shared ofrenda set up out front. After the race there is a costume contest, tamales, live music, and stilt walkers.
