About the Darien Depot Overstuffed Turkey Trot 5k and 1 Mile Fun Run
The course runs the cross-country trail at Darien High School, which means grass and packed dirt rather than road, with the natural rolls and turns that come with a trail built for school athletics. It draws a big Thanksgiving crowd, strollers included on the shorter distance, so the atmosphere is more neighborhood gathering than race-day tension. Music and food are part of the morning.
Bib pickup happens at The Depot, the youth center the race benefits, on the days leading up to Thanksgiving, with race-morning pickup available as well. Dogs are not allowed on the high school campus. If weather turns snowy, there is a backup date the following day.
