About the Danvers 7 Miler and 4K

The course starts at a park on Pine Street and mixes road sections with a packed rail trail. There is a short climb right at the beginning, then a couple of long, gradual descents. The trail portion is flat and smooth, which makes the back half feel easier than you expect. Dogs and strollers are welcome.

Parking at the start fills up, so arriving early helps. Street parking around the corner on Adams Street is an option, and there is overflow parking at a nearby lot roughly a short walk from the start. A local restaurant brings post-race drinks, and packaged snacks and fruit are set out after you finish.

Common Questions About the Danvers 7 Miler and 4K

Will I finish last at the Danvers 7 Miler and 4K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 7 Miles field finished slower than 1:03:56, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:45:06, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Danvers 7 Miler and 4K a good first 7 Miles?

It is a small race (84 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 7 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Danvers 7 Miler and 4K?

The 7 Miles winner ran 48:43 while the median finisher took 1:03:56. That spread points to a relatively quick field, so expect a competitive front end.
