About the Día de los Muertos 5K
The race takes place inside the National Butterfly Center, and the setting shapes the whole morning. Runners head out on an out-and-back course, with a water station at the turnaround. The surroundings lean toward the occasion: Día de los Muertos decorations, local vendors, and plenty of people dressed in calavera-inspired colors and florals.
Post-race there are snacks and drinks, music, and age group awards for the timed distance. Photo opportunities are built into the event, and the atmosphere skews more remembrance than competition, which feels right for a race held at a butterfly sanctuary on this particular day of the year.
