About the Crane Broiler Festival Chicken Chase 5K

The course runs mostly on the city's public trail system, a smooth gravel path through Crane. The shorter distance sticks to pavement. Both routes start on Main Street in downtown Crane, so you are in the middle of things from the first step.

Packet pickup happens the evening before at the Broiler Festival, with morning-of pickup available at the start. The race finishes well before the festival parade and vendor booths open, so there is time to walk around after you are done.

Common Questions About the Crane Broiler Festival Chicken Chase 5K

Will I finish last at the Crane Broiler Festival Chicken Chase 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the race field finished slower than 33:57, and the last recorded finisher came in around 59:54, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Crane Broiler Festival Chicken Chase 5K a good first race?

It is a small race (81 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first race, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Crane Broiler Festival Chicken Chase 5K?

The race winner ran 20:02 while the median finisher took 33:57. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
