About the Cornelia Masonic Lodge Gobble Gobble 5K Turkey Run & 1 Mile Fun Walk/Run

The course runs through the campuses of a high school and a ninth-grade academy, so the terrain is paved and the surroundings feel like a school neighborhood. There is a shorter option for walkers and younger runners alongside the main race, and a costume element adds some color to the morning.

Packet pickup and the start are both in a southeast parking lot under an awning near the vocational wing. Parking is out front of the high school, which makes it easy to drop a bag and get to the line without much wandering.

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 35:41, and the last recorded finisher came in around 41:39, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Cornelia Masonic Lodge Gobble Gobble 5K Turkey Run & 1 Mile Fun Walk/Run a good first 5K?

How competitive is the Cornelia Masonic Lodge Gobble Gobble 5K Turkey Run & 1 Mile Fun Walk/Run?

The 5K winner ran 18:18 while the median finisher took 35:41. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
